THE IMPORTANCE OF TOURISM :

There are several benefits of tourism on host destinations. Tourism boosts the revenue of the economy, creates thousands of jobs, develops the infrastructure of a country and plants a sense of cultural exchange between foreigners and citizens. Tourism is vital for the success of many economies around the world as the number of jobs created by tourism in many different areas is significant. These jobs are not only a part of the tourism sector but may also include the agricultural sector, communication sector, health sector and the educational sector. Moreover, tourists mostly travel to experience the hosting destination’s culture, traditions, food habits, etc. This makes it very profitable for local restaurants, shopping centres, stores, etc.
Tourism also creates a cultural exchange between tourists and local citizens. Exhibitions, conferences and events usually attract foreigners. Foreigners learn about a new culture and at the same time they bring diversity and cultural enrichment to the hosting country. Tourism also creates many opportunities for young entrepreneurs to establish new products and services that would not be sustainable on the local population alone.

IMPACT OF COVID-19 ON THE TOURISM SECTOR :

Tourism and hospitality businesses are profoundly affected by Covid-19 which has been declared as Pandemic by WHO ( World Health Organisation ). Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, the Travel and Tourism industry’s employment loss is approximately calculated to be 100.08 million worldwide, for 2020. Tourism is a major source of revenue and employment in India because our country is one of the developing nations known for its uniqueness in its tradition, culture, and unparalleled hospitality. It is a major destination for many international tourists, creating several employment opportunities and generating enormous taxes.
