Cockroach control ways to get rid of the nasty pest

Cockroaches or roaches are insects of the order Blattodea and about 30 cockroach species, out of 4600 are associated with human habitats. Again, of these thirty, 4 species are well-known as pests. They feed on human and pet food and can leave an offensive odour. They can passively transport microbes on their body surfaces and are linked with allergic reactions in humans. These persistent pests will make themselves at home in your kitchen, bathroom and other living spaces. Unfortunately they multiply fast, thus adding to your problems. But before discussing the remedies, it is important to remember that almost all types of pests ( like roaches, ants, termites or rodents) are mainly looking for food and water sources. On top of that, cockroaches are also drawn to warm and humid climate. Thus, to begin with, it will be easier if you do not keep dirty dishes in the sink, food crumbs on the floors or counters, garbage, pet food on the floor and leftover food in the empty cans or containers. Moreover, try to close all sorts of cracks and crevices as well as holes in vents and pipes in order to stop these pests from entering your home. If you find cockroaches in your home, taking immediate action is crucial because it is easier to deal with a small number than a large infestation. There are both home-made natural remedies as well as chemical remedies to control roaches.

COCKROACH CONTROL : BY PEST CONTROL COMPANIES

• Gel Bait – The most common approach taken by pest control experts is the use of gel bait. These gels use various types of insecticides and come handy in syringe. This syringe can apply little amount of gel in all the nooks and crevices, where the pests lurk. The cockroaches eat the gel bait and die quickly. The biggest benefit of this gel is that it can kill several genearations of cockroaches and can be applied everywhere.

• Tent Fumigation – This is another approach to terminate roaches, though it is not always recommended. In tent fumigation, in a residential approach, a “rubber tent” typically made of plastic/PVC coated canvas material, is placed over the entire home, while the pesticides are released. Fumigation kills cockroaches real fast but the pesticides in these sprays can linger for a long time and that is hazardous to health.

• Insecticide and Chemicals – Apart from these two methods, several insecticides and chemicals are used by pest control guys to kill cockroaches. Boric acid is one of the most important among them. It is often applied as a dust, which is scattered over surfaces around the home. Indoxacarb is another insecticide that is highly effective at cockroach eradication. Gel bait often uses this as a component. Another chemical which is often used for this purpose is Hydramethylon.

COCKROACH CONTROL : THE HOME-MADE REMEDIES

You can use lavender oil inside your home to chase the cockroaches away. Dilute it, pour it in a spray bottle and then spray where necessary. Another mode is to take equal parts of baking soda and sugar in a shallow bowl and place it near the cockroach-infested areas. The sugar attracts the cockroaches while the the baking soda kills them. These apart, the smell of crushed garlic and coffee grounds act as deterrents. Lemon juice is a good antibacterial agent and its highly acidic smell repels cockroaches.
