A workplace is a location where someone works for his/her employer and such a place can range from a home office to a large office building or a factory. Working environment is a broad term that encompasses all of a person’s surroundings while he/she is at work. More often than not, there is a nagging problem or two in the workplace that you may not know how to deal with. It can be a nasty workplace bully, or something as common as a huge workload. Sometimes work problems can develop when you get little or no feedback on your performance. • Bad Bosses – An old saying goes “People don’t quit jobs. They quit managers.” As many surveys show, bad managers/bosses is one of the most important factors that causes workplace problem.
• Workplace Bullies – This can range from direct verbal abuse to subltle moves like exclusion from team event or being singled out for unfair criticism by someone. These cause a lot of mental stress.
• Tiny Raises – Often an employee is given only very tiny raise when he deserves much more. This causes a great dissatisfaction among employees.

• Office Politics – Office politics can be defined as actions and behaviour involving competition for status or power in a workplace. Whether you want it or not, you may get entangled in office politics that causes a lot of mental stress.
WAYS TO DEAL WITH WORKPLACE PROBLEMS :
Workplace problems are something that almost every individual needs to handle, to some extent or the other. It is absolutely essential to keep one’s cool and deal with them a little diplomatically so as not to harm one’s own interest. Some such modes to deal with these problems are :
• Consciously decide how to react to a conflict situation – People always remember how you respond to a situation rather than what happened. While none of us have control over many situations, we can choose how to respond to others to help reduce work conflict and stress.
• Give yourself time to prepare – You should address difficult issues after taking out some time to organise your thoughts. Take the time to understand and be clear about your real concerns.
• Focus on what you can change – Arguing about anything will not change the situation. Try to make the other person understand your point of view and focus on how you can both work more productively in the future.
• Listen, reflect and inquire – Do not listen only to hear what you expect the other person to say or to confirm your viewpoint. Listen with an open mind. Help the other person feel heard. Empathise. Ask open-minded questions to gather information.
• Communicate – If you feel that sharing your problem with someone might help, do so. Moreover you can approach the concerned authority and try to make them understand your point of view, albeit politely and logically.
